Presbyopia (eyesight of old age) is not an error of refraction but a condition of physiological insufficiency of accommodation leading to a progressive fall in near vision
After the age of 40, the lens becomes more rigid. Because the lens can’t change shape as easily as it once did, it is more difficult to read at close range. This normal condition is called presbyopia

Symptoms
Difficulty in near vision.
Asthenopic symptoms due to fatigue of the ciliary muscle
Intermittent diplopia
Pre existing myopia may temporarily compensate presbyopia, leading to better near vision(second sight)

Retinoscopy -Near vision spectacles in the form of a weakest convex lens
