Adults : 2 - 3.5 g/dl

Alpha 1 - 0.1 – 0.3 g/dl

Alpha 2 : 0.6 -1 g/dl

Beta : 0.7 -1.1 g/dl

When to get Tested

• When there is s/s like unexplained weight loss, Fatigue, Oedema.
• When there are symptoms of liver disease, kidney disease, or bone marrow disorder

Elevated Level

• Alpha 1 Increased : Inflammatory stages , Pregnancy
• Alpha 2 Increased : Inflammatory states , nephritic syndrome , Oral contraceptive use, Steroid use , hyper thyroidism 
• Beta Increased : Hyper lipidemia , Iron deficiency anaemia
• Gamma Increased : Polyclonal & Monoclonal Gammopathies

Decreased Level

• Alpha 1 Decreased : Alpha 1 Antitrypsin deficiency
• Alpha 2 Decreased : Haemolysis , liver disease
• Beta Decreased: Hypo B Lipo proteinemia , malnutrition
