ANOGENITAL WARTS
Description
- Epidermal manifestation attributed to the epidermotropic human papillomavirus(HPV)
- Genital warts are fleshy growths that develop around the genitals or anus
- Also known as Condyloma acuminate or venereal warts
Etiology
- Papillary lesions caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
- Premalignant and malignant cervical cancers in women also increase the chances of genital wart
- Even if there are no warts, HPV might still be active in the genital area and can spread to others
Types
- Vaginal discharge
- Pruritus
- Difficulty in defecation
- Anal pain
- Typically, it grows in clusters along a narrow stalk giving it a cauliflower appearance. Rarely does it become malignant
- Location – Vulvar, Cervix, anal region, urethra

- Visual inspection with bright light
- Pap smear for females
- Biopsy
