A deviation of the nasal septum from midline which can lead to difficulty breathing( typically in only one nostril) , nasal congestion,(usually one side more than the other, recurrent sinus infections, nose bleeds, sleep apnea
Types of DNS
Anterior dislocation- Septal cartilage may be dislocated into one of the nasal chambers
C-shaped deformity- Septum is deviated in a simple curve to one side
S-shaped deformity - Such a deformity may cause bilateral nasal obstruction
Spurs- A spur is a shelf-like projection often found at the junction of bone and cartilage. Spur may gives rise to headache and also predispose to repeated epistaxis
