ANTE NATAL - THREATENED ABORTION
Description
The process of abortion has started, but has not progressed towards completion is termed as threatened abortion. Here choriodecidual hemorrhage has commenced but has not progressed to the stage of irreversibility.
Etiology
- Foetal factors such as chromosomal anomalies, congenital defects, multiple pregnancy
- Maternal infections
- Maternal diseases like hypertension, diabetes, PCOD, thyroid dysfunction
- Immunological factors as APLA
- Severe hypoxia
- Progesterone insufficiency
- Antimalarial, anticonvulsive and anesthetic drugs
Types
- Amenorrhea
- Scanty bleeding per vagina
- Painless bleeding
- Mild uterine cramps or back ache
- Bleeding fresh and scanty
Investigation
- Hb
- PCV
- Blood grouping
- USG pelvis-Gestational sac corresponding to amenorrhea
- Urine pregnancy test positive
Treatments
- Complete rest
- Ambulation only after bledding ceases
- Garbhasthapana oushada
- Pumsavana drugs
- Lakshmanamula kalka with milk
- Ashta vatashunga pesteled in payas and extracted juice can be used for nasal instillation (3 to 4 drops); same can be taken orally also
- Dadimadi Gritha
- Phalasarpis
- Nyagrodhadhishunga siddha ksheerasarpi
- Suvarna vasantimalati rasa
- Application of Shatadhoua Gritha or Sahasradhouta Gritha in lower abdomen
- Yoni pichu - Nyagrodhadishunga siddha ksheera sarpi , Nyagrodhadigana siddha taila, Madhuyashti siddha sarpi etc
